This review is from: WD Scorpio Black 500 GB SATA 7200 RPM 16 MB Cache Bulk/OEM 2.5" Mobile Hard Drive (WD5000BPKT) (Personal Computers) I swapped my 60 gig hard drive out of my ps3 for this 500 gig one and it worked great. Don't worry about loosing your downloaded content because you can redownload it for free (you already paid for it). Just look in your PSN account("download history").It took me about 15 min. to copy my game save data to 16 gig usb flash drive, swap hard drives, then reinstall them. If you buy a 2.5 inch sata hard drive case you can use your old one for a portable external storage device. 13 of 14 people found the following review helpful Works good as eSATA and USB, Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: WD Scorpio Black 500 GB SATA 7200 RPM 16 MB Cache Bulk/OEM 2.5" Mobile Hard Drive (WD5000BPKT) (Personal Computers) My Windows 7 laptop detected this right away and quick formatted just as fast. I was benchmarking this within 5 minutes of receiving it.I ordered this with an external case, Sabrent 2.5 Inch SATA Hard Drive USB 2.0/ E-SATA Aluminium Enclosure (EC-25HSU) and eSATA cable Serial ATA 2.0 Cable, eSATA 300Mbps, 0.5 Meter (1.6 ft). The case comes with a USB->Power input cable for use as eSATA device, but not an actual eSATA cable. If you'll be using this as an external USB drive, you won't need the extra cable. I would recommend running as eSATA because it's up to 3 times faster for sequential reads/writes in that mode, so for large files, videos, and creating backups it will really hum along. Here are my test results: eSATA Test: Sequential Read : 118.497 MB/s Sequential Write : 115.546 MB/s Random Read 512KB : 20.181 MB/s Random Write 512KB : 24.781 MB/s Random Read 4KB (QD=1) : 0.672 MB/s [ 164.1 IOPS] Random Write 4KB (QD=1) : 0.389 MB/s [ 95.0 IOPS] Random Read 4KB (QD=32) : 1.431 MB/s [ 349.4 IOPS] Random Write 4KB (QD=32) : 0.385 MB/s [ 94.0 IOPS] USB Test: Sequential Read : 34.590 MB/s Sequential Write : 27.958 MB/s Random Read 512KB : 23.436 MB/s Random Write 512KB : 24.066 MB/s Random Read 4KB (QD=1) : 0.631 MB/s [ 154.1 IOPS] Random Write 4KB (QD=1) : 0.384 MB/s [ 93.6 IOPS] Random Read 4KB (QD=32) : 0.663 MB/s [ 161.8 IOPS] Random Write 4KB (QD=32) : 0.386 MB/s [ 94.2 IOPS] 15 of 17 people found the following review helpful Buy This, Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Replaced a 100GB 5400 RPM drive in my 2.16 GHz 2006 MacBook Pro. This drive is so much faster it is like having a new Mac. I did my research before and this drive got high reviews. Many of the SeaGate drives reported high failure rates. |
