My new 11.6" netbook fits into it perfectly and so would a 10". There is also a little room for various cords, headphones, a mouse (which is a little fat for the case, but does zip into it), etc. I don't carry an external drive, but think it would also fit into the case along with the netbook. It has a nice slim look when closed. Inside the shell, this case measures 12.5" x 10". It has an inside pocket that fits a file folder perfectly, and can hold any other loose items. I have a Gateway 11.6" computer, and I have no problems fitting the computer, power cable, and Kensington wireless mouse inside.
