2.0 out of 5 stars Wouldn't be worth the price IF it held a charge., January 22, 2012
This review is from: Goal0 11002 Sherpa 50 Battery (Automotive)
The battery can't hold a charge for a week. I've tried 3 different charging methods to see if I could get better results. I tried charging it for over a day using the solar panel, charging it via the power adapter, and leaving it on the power adapter for a week straight. Every time the battery claimed to be full and when I checked it a week later it was completely dead. TOTAL GARBAGE!!! Do yourself a huge favor by not blowing a couple hundred dollars on this battery which doesn't perform, buy a Symtek TF200 for same 50 watts, much smaller size, actually holds a charge, and is a fraction of the cost.

EDIT: 1/26/12 added a star

Shortly after writing my initial review I had plugged in my goal 0 battery to fully charge. My plan was to check it every 24 hours to see just how long it was holding a charge. After about 4 hours of having it plugged in I went to check on if it was fully charged, and to my horror it was blinking all sorts of lights and had a huge bulge in the middle of the battery, NOT GOOD! I immediately contacted goal 0 via their online chat. They didn't ask me a single question other than what my address was so they could send me out a brand new battery I was pretty happy about the exchange being hassle free! The very next day I had a package from goal 0 with my brand new battery. I've only had it for a few day's now and I'm trying to run it through it's paces to stress test it. It seems to be holding a charge longer than my original ever did. I still plan on doing my check every 24 hours to see how long it holds a charge for on this new one. Also this battery has some slight differences between the first battery I had. I'll try to post pictures to compare the two.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reliable mobile power, October 17, 2011

After looking at a number of was to charge items while hiking(solar, mechanical, and batteries) I came across the Goal 0 equipment system. This system is excellent! The whole system is modular to allow customization for the type of excursion you are planning. The Sherpa 50 battery pack is perfect for me and my 2-3 day hikes. I usually take a iphone, GPS, and rechargeable speaker, all USB charged items. This system holds enough power to charge all of them. The optional solar pack to recharge the units makes this system perfect for even longer trips. Great all around product, easy to use and with and option inverter can power AC devices.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor Quality, January 22, 2012

I read a lot of reviews that strongly recommended to not buy any Goal0 products. Unfortunately I did not take their advice and purchased this battery pack and a few other Goal0 products. Big mistake. The first Sherpa 50 battery I bought melted during its first charge. I was able to return it to the manufacturer with no issues. However, the customer service rep did mention that she thought the melting battery issue had been resolved. That was worrisome. So they sent me a replacement battery that would not hold a charge for more than a couple days. That does me absolutely no good to have a battery bank that doesn't hold a charge. Don't buy anything from Goal0. There has to be something better out there.
