4.0 out of 5 stars Overall a great charger for gadgets, November 15, 2011

This review is from: Duracell DRINVC130 130W Power Inverter with 2.1 Amp USB Port (Automotive)
Overall this is a great little charger. My favorite feature would definitely have to be the DC plug since my car only has 1, and I don't have to buy another splitter to power other devices.

For powering a laptop, the AC plug works great.

The main reason I bought it was to power a HP Touchpad, which apparently the 2.1amp USB plug still has trouble doing.
The only other complaint I would have about it is that the fan makes a quiet ticking noise. It's just loud enough to hear; if it were more like a fan noise I wouldn't have an issue with it.

4.0 out of 5 stars great little inverter, November 7, 2011

This is a great little inverter for the money. It doesn't get 5 stars because of one very big problem--if you leave it plugged in, it will run your battery down if your vehicle continues to send power to the cigarette lighter even when the key is turned off. Luckily for me, this happened to me in a nice, heated garage, and I had another vehicle with jumper cables handy. Since then, I have been very careful about unplugging it every time I get out of the car. The cupholder shape fits perfectly into my car's cupholder. I love the fact that it has 3 outlets--(1) 12v outlet, (1) 120v outlet, and (1) usb charger port. I can charge my phone, listen to my mp3 player (powered by 12v), and run my GPS off the wall charger all at the same time. When I was researching to buy this unit, I spent a lot of time looking for one similar to this. There are cheaper and less expensive units out there. Very few had the size, power, and function of this unit. It's been great so far. It's never overheated (yet), and it is so quiet, I can't even hear it running, even with the car turned off. When I bought this, it was about .

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great and makes it easy to charge multiple devices in your car, September 22, 2011

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I received this power inverter through the Amazon Vine program. I was very excited to get it because I was getting ready to go on a week long car trip to Yellowstone. This worked great and reliably charged a number of devices at once.

This power inverter plugs into your car charger. It has three types of plug-ins; a car charger port, a USB port, and a std three-prong plug in. There is a green indicator light that comes on on the top of the charger to let you know it is getting power.

I had two devices plugged on my lengthy drive: a phone charging through the car charger output and a Kindle charging through the UBS output. I think the devices charged slightly slower than they normally do; but I am not absolutely certain on this since I didn't time the charging side by side. The standard plug-in is nice to have, I was going to use it to plug my chromebook in but never got around to it. I can foresee myself using the std plug-in a lot during camping when we aren't at an electrical site and need to blow up an air mattress; things like that.

The inverter stayed in the cup holder nicely and never fell out or wiggled. The only downside to this is that it took up a cupholder place. We only have two cupholders up front in our SUV, so this was kind of pain. If you don't have a cupholder for this to sit in, there really isn't any other good way to place it in the car.

Overall I was incredibly happy with this. It greatly expands the charging capacity of a car; I loved having the three different types of plug-ins. The standard plug-in option will be incredibly useful in the future. It saved me a lot of hassling with rotating devices for charging on a long road trip to Yellowstone.
